As part of my photography work I studied a photographer named Berenice Abbott. She focused on textures and intricate areas of images within urban cities. I chose Durham as my city to photograph to re-create her work as it has a lot of architecturally attractive buildings with stone details due to their age. Abbott worked in black and white and I decided to do the same as I thought it made the details stand out more strongly as the areas of light and dark were more pronounced. This also meant that the light in my images highlighted the areas of detail such as the stone carving or carved brickwork. I was pleased with how this section of my project turned out and I think I managed to re-create the style of this particular photographer well.

I have included work from my photography course as it shows that I have been using Photoshop a great deal so have been able to develop my skills using the program. It was then easy to transfer these skills into my media work and I found that I had few problems using Photoshop as a result of the amount of time I was spending using it. It was InDesign which caused me more problems as I had never used the software before.
